The Great Oak of Širvintas

The oak growing in the forest of Širvintas in the district of Lazdijai was named after its distinctive appearance. The mighty oak easily distinguishable from any other trees is called the Great Oak of Širvintas. Its height is even 31 meters. The extent of its trunk reaches 5 meters. The oak with its widely spread branches already counts 400 years. The Great Oak of Širvintas has a competitor at the very same forest, which is of a similar age, but slightly smaller, and is called the Hollowed Oak of Širvintas.

It’s impossible to pass by the old oak without noticing it. It is at the very roadside of the road Seirijai – Simnas in the forest of Širvintas, in the eldership of Seirijai.
